The Devil's Trials
Would you make a deal with the devil?
The devil and his fallen angels ravaged Kaida and rebuilt the world in their image. Every ten years since, the devil generously gives humans a chance to escape their sin-filled oppression.
Enter The Devil's Trials, face the seven deadly sins, and try to survive with their lives and humanity intact. The prize is peace, prosperity, and immortality within the heart of the devil's lands.
Octavia Nox didn't enter the trials to win, she just wanted to survive. Now she must participate in Gluttony's infamous tithe, The Feast of Samael, enduring seven nights of ravenous indulgence. But can Octavia temper her sinner’s heart before sin itself eats her alive?
Gluttony may as well have taken a bite from Octavia's heart.
There's little time to grieve the outcome of the Gluttony trial as she enters Invidia, a city of barely contained envy, where everyone wants what the other possesses. The competitors of the devil's trials are sent belowground with no special treatment and tasked to play Envy's favourite game, Heist of Haures.
Below the city streets new friends are found in unlikely places, and danger follows her like a shadow. All while Octavia attempts to steal a piece of the old world from Invidia's elite to secure her safety. However, in a city so covetous nothing ever goes to plan, and Octavia finds herself on a path to steal from the very heart of Envy's most treasured collection.
It might just be the deadliest heist of her life.
War is coming . . .
Envy and Wrath have a feud that has transcended generations, and along with the other competitors of The Devil’s Trials, Octavia must navigate through dangerous terrain, facing monsters and men, to the arid Wrathlands.
There, she will face the sin of Wrath.
The lion-branded war camps are a dangerous place, their heralding angel a frenzy of tumultuous rage and death. Octavia finds herself tasked to train for a war she would rather avoid. She’s not sure she has what it takes physically, mentally, or emotionally to succeed without the devil’s aid.
Octavia has fought her way to defeat Gluttony and Envy, but can she survive a war?
Escorted into Glorae on the arm of an angel, Octavia is still reeling from the trauma of war, and finds herself the sole recipient Pride’s attention, inadvertently becoming a puppet in his games to rile the devil, obligated to follow his every command.
Passing the fourth devil’s trial is her only means to escape him. The Tower of Hubris has seven levels and challenges to test wit, intelligence, and resourcefulness, and Octavia must finish it. Except passing the tower doesn’t mean passing the trial. Pride values confidence, excellence, and achievement, but the devil wants humility.
Can Octavia face her reflection, swallow her pride, and pass the trial? Or will Pride bring her to her knees?
Pride has commanded an impossible feat: Octavia must finish the devil’s trials and eliminate the devil, or find herself forfeit to him. Meanwhile, Niklaus Heira has stolen her away to the Wastelands Rebellion. Too far from the trials, she finds herself stranded in a hive of anger and treason. Where they demand she join their attack on Eternis, unaware of the devil whispering in her ear, watching their every move.
Escaping the rebellion alongside an unlikely ally, Octavia must find her way to Desidia, the home of Sloth, to face her next trial. In a land where humanity is forced into an endless slumber, she falls prey to chaotic worlds of dreams and nightmares, exploring realms that offer everything she desires most, from forbidden love, to those lost from her past, with only one catch, if she stays too long, she may never leave.
Confronted with a loss that leaves her reeling, Octavia is tempted to hide from reality and exist only in the world of her dreams. Except Pride, Sloth and Samael may all lay claim to her soul, and she can’t escape the devil in her dreams.
